Communal Crisis: Govt Broker Peace Between Delta, Ondo Communities

The Delta State Government has successfully intervened in a communal crisis between Adoloseimo 2 community in Ondo State and Kokotoru community in Warri North Local Government Area, Delta State.

A high-powered delegation led by Warri North Council Chairman, Hon. Festus Ashima and the Secretary to the local government (SLG), Chief Felix Adanse, visited the palace of the Agadagba of Arogbo-Ibe, His Imperial Majesty Pere Zaccheaus Egbunu Opukutu III, to discuss and find lasting solutions to the conflict.

The delegation also comprised,Hon. Sule, Majority Leader of the Warri North Legislative Arm, Captain Bassey Victor, Area Commander, Sapele, CSP, Lukman Olaogun, DPO, Koko

The communal crisis resulted in the loss of two lives, destruction of properties, and several injuries, prompting the Delta State Government to step in and broker peace between the two communities.

During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to bring the crisis to an end and ensure peaceful coexistence between the two communities.

Hon. Ashima also visited Senior High Chief Bibopre Ajube, (a.k.a Shoot-at-Sight who is a key stakeholder in Arogbo-Ibe kingdom, to help calm the situation and prevent further escalation.

Security agencies from both states are involved to maintain peace and order.

With the government’s intervention and the monarch’s support, there is hope that the communities will soon return to normalcy, and the crisis will be a thing of the past.

This development is a testament to the Delta State Government’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region, under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
